Happy Birthday.

Today is my moms birthday! I am so blessed to have her as a mother. I love her so much. I am thankful
for everything she has thought me.  She is a great example in my life. If you know her you know she is a very talented artist, funny, intelligent, strong woman. It makes me so happy whenever people tell me I look like her and do the things she does.

She is the best mom anybody could ask for. Even my son loves her as a mom and friend too. Thank you mom for all your love and dedication. I hope to be like you one day.

Hoy es el cumpleaños de mi mama. Que gran bendicion tener una madre como ella. La amo tanto. Estoy muy agradecida por todo lo que me ha enseñado. Ella es un gran ejemplo en mi vida. Si la conocen saben que ella es una artista muy talentosa, chistosa, alegre, inteligente y fuerte mujer. Me hace tan feliz cuando la gente me dice que me parezco a ella y que hago las cosas que ella hace.

Ella es la mejor mama que existe! ES una gran bendicion tenerla como madre y amiga. Gracias mami por todo tu amor y tiempo. Espero algun dia ser como tu.

ONG, AKIN, PHOTOGRAPHY!

Hace un par de meses estuve de voluntaria como fotografa en una actividad en muxbal donde fueron bastantes niños de varias escuelas de mixco. Esta ONG esta trabajando en un programa contra la violencia, donde les esta inculcando valores a los niños, enseñando a jugar deportes y mantenerlos fuera de las calles, para asi evitar que se involucren en actividades no muy sanas y buenas.

La gente que esta encargada de este programa es muy especial y me encanto trabajar con ellos. Si algun dia estan interesados en ayudar de alguna forma a estos niños, que no cuentan muchas veces con el apoyo de sus padres, me pueden contactar y con gusto les puedo contar como pueden ayudar. Siempre andan buscando gente que pueda donar dinero para que se puedan llevar acabo actividades como estas.
Como por ejemplo, este mes tuvieron curso de vacaciones. Ya que los niños estan de vacaciones van a tener mucho tiempo libre y lo mas probable es que lo usen para estar en las calles, unirse a maras o vender drogas. Para mantenerlos alejados de esto y ocupados llevaron a cabo este curso de vacaciones, donde aprendieron arte, un nuevo deporte y actuacion y otras cosas. Este año necesitaban dinero para comprar las refacciones de los niños.

Aqui estan algunas de las fotos de la actividad en muxbal, donde aprendieron a trabajar en equipo, aprendieron a jugar un deporte y la pasaron muy bien.

A few months ago I was volunteer as a photographer in an activity in Muxbal, where many kids from publics schools from Mixco participated. This Non profit organization is working on a program against violence, where they are teaching values to these kids, how to play sports, team work, to keep them out of the street and keeping them from joining gangs and becoming drug dealers in the future. They are teaching them there are other good things they can do in their free time and that there are people to support them.

The people in charge of this program is very special, I loved working with them. If some day you are interested in helping in any way theses kids, who dont have anybody, not even their parents to support them, you can contact me and I will gladly let you know how you can help. We are always looking for people to donate money for activities like these. For example this month they had winter activities. Since the kids are out of school and they will have a lot of free time they will most likely be on the streets either asking for money, joining gangs or selling drugs. To keep them away from that and busy they had had a winter break program, where they learned about art, a new sport, acting and other things. This year they needed money to buy the kids their snacks and lunch. There are always need for volunteers to help with the kids too.

Aqui abajo pueden ver algunas fotos de los niños usando sus nuevos uniformes, los cuales fueron donados por Akin Clothing. Akin es una empresa no lucrativa que vende ropa y al comprar la ropa se le compra un uniforme a un niño que no podria pagarlo. El equipo de Akin vino este año y escogio una escuela en mixco donde hicieron un proyecto de servicio con los niños para que se pudieran ganar sus uniformes y despues se los dieron. Es muy bonito todo lo que hacen ellos. Si quieren saber mas de ellos este es el link, ahi puede comprar la ropa que venden o si quisiera ayudar de otra manera ahi esta el contacto de ellos.

Down here you can see some of the photos of the kids using their new uniforms, which where bought by Akin Clothing. Akin is a non profit organization. They sell t-shirts, and when you buy one you are buying a school uniform for a kid who cant afford to buy their own. Akin team came this year and chose a school in Mixco where they did a service project with the kids so they could earn their uniforms. Is a very nice everything they do. 2014!

Ya falta poco para que comience un año nuevo. Que rapido se paso el año otra vez.
Hoy estuve en cama todo el dia sin que hacer, enferma, asi que me puse a hacer algo productivo para variar.

Que les parece estos calendarios?

A mi me encantaron!! Los puedo diseñar con cualquier foto. Ahorita estoy haciendo estos para una familia con fotos de sus tres hijos. Que buen regalo de navidad y no es caro y al mismo tiempo muy util. 

Christmas is here!

David esta tan feliz y emocionado por que ya esta la navidad aqui. Ayer terminamos de decorar el arbol de navidad. Estuvo alegre. Tengo que admitir que es algo dificil con un niño de 3 años, y en una ocasion casi tira el arbol. Pero al final lo logramos y decoramos el arbol sin que nadie saliera lastimado o nada se quebrara o arruinara. 

David escogio todas las decoraciones para el arbol, con excepcion del liston que esa si fue mi idea. Me encanta lo entusiasmado que esta este año, asi que lo he dejado que participe en todo, desde elegir que adornos comprar para el arbol, hasta poner los adornos donde el quiera. En el curso de vacaciones estan haciendo tambien adornos para el arbol. Creo que es un detalle muy bonito que tenga cosas hechas por mi lindo bebe. 

Mañana es dia de manualidades asi que estaremos haciendo unas decoraciones de navidad para la casa con David. 

Seven days

+ One week, SEVEN DAYS left until december. I have mixed feelings about christmas coming, or December.

Here are some things that I am looking forward next month.

- Christmas songs on the radio

- Christmas decorations everywhere

-Many opportunities to give, serve and share with others

-A time to share with family and loved ones

-Buy presents or make them. I wish there could be a rule and you could only give presents made by you. It makes the gift more special. And then if there is anything you have always wanted to have you can buy it yourself since you'd didn't have to spend money buying expensive gifts for others that maybe they didn't even wanted them in the first place. So is a win win situation. 

-Have fun decorating gifts. This is my favorite part. 

-Photos with Santa

-Read Christmas stories

-Snow

- Go to temple square to see the lights and then have a hot chocolate. 

- Help my grandma decorate her table and fill it with candies and desserts. 

- Guatemala food, tamales and paches. Specially paches, they are my favorite. 

- Fireworks with the cousins 

- Service projects

All of these things are my favorite things to do in december. Now for some reason, I just dont want to do it. My brother says I am the Grinch now. Then after thinking about it maybe I am just not used to spending Christmas in another country, or I really still have no idea. But making this list made me realize I do love december, and love christmas. There are so many fun things to do. 

I love making lists, I dont know if I have ever told you, but my favorite thing to do is make lists. I will make lists about anything. And this is one of the things I love about it. Writing the things I love on  this list made me realize how much I like and enjoy this month of the year.

I need to write a bigger list. 

So if you ever feel bad about something, or dont like something, make a list of the good things, the positive things about it, so you can like it , and if there are no good things you like, then think about the good things that could come from doing that thing you want to avoid. 

I hope you all enjoy this time a year too. 

Ayuda!

Ya se está muy cerca la Navidad. Les tengo una muy buena noticia. Pueden hacer felices a unos pequeños angelitos está Navidad. 

Como? 

Me imagino que sus hijos tendrán juguetes que ya no usan o que ya les aburrió. Pueden empezar a escoger esos juguetes y apartarlos en una caja. 

Para quién son los donativos? 

Para bebés y niños de pediatría del hospital de Cuilapa. 

Que se puede donar?

Juguetes, peluches, o cosas para bebés. La verdad cualquier cosa es bienvenido para estos niños. Hay mamas que llegan a tener sus hijos y no tienen ni con que vestir a sus bebés recién nacidos, ni con que taparlos, así que colchitas o ropita de bebe también es bienvenido. 

Yo voy a estar en guatemala hasta el 10 de diciembre. Así qué sí me quieren dar sus donativos yo con gusto los puedo ir a recoger a sus casas. 

El 23 de diciembre se van a entregar los donativos. Sí alguien está interesado en participar y ayudar a entregar las cosas también se puede comunicar conmigo y les puedo dar la información.

November Visiting teaching idea / Noviembre idea para maestras visitantes

No tomo credito por esta idea, lo encontre en otro blog y me parecio muy buena idea asi que decidi hacerlo. Por si no saben que hacer o que regalar este mes a quienes visitan esta es una idea muy bonita. Ya que el mensaje de este mes es sobre la conferencia general, lo que contiene este frasquito son citas de la conferencia general. En cada papelito hay un pequeño mensaje  de un orador diferente. Para que todo este mes puedan sacar una cada dia y recuerden algo bonito sobre la conferencia o que lean ese articulo.
Tambien tiene chocolates para cuando lo que necesiten es comer algo dulce. :D

Materiales:

- 1 Frasco de vidrio vacio (yo compre este en cemaco y costo Q14, o pueden usar los frasco vacio de alguna salsa o jalea)

- Papel bonito

- liston de color

- chocolates

Asi que imprimen sus citas favoritas, las cortan en cuadritos y despues las doblan. Meten los chocolates y las citas en el frasco, lo cierran y despues le ponen el listo y listo! a mi me tomo 1 minutos hacerlo. Asi que no solo es muy bonito sino que tambien es muy rapido de hacer.

I dont take credit for this idea, I found this on another blog and I though it was a great idea, so I decided to try and do it. In case you dont know what to give this month to the women you have to visit, this is a great idea. Since the message of this month is about general conference, what it is on this jar are quotes from general conference. Each paper has a quote from a different speaker. So this month you can read each day a little message about conference or read the complete article. 

There are also chocolates for when they need to eat something sweet. :D

Materials:

- 1 empty jar

- pretty paper

- ribbon 

- chocolates

Since the pretty paper I had was too big i used an 8.5x11 white paper and placed it on top of the paper I was going to use. I cliped the corner so it would not move and cut it. 

Ya que el papel que yo use era muy grande para imprimir, use una hoja de 8.5x11 de papel blanco como muestra para cortar el otro papel. Le puse clips para que no se moviera mientras lo cortaba y lo corte. 

Crepes

Since David is very allergic I am always looking for recipes diary free. Whenever we go out he wants to eat everything and most of the time the things he wants to eat have milk or butter in it. A few weeks ago his preschool teacher made him Nutella with no diary in it, or something similar to Nutella, just chocolate with no diary, so I was thinking with what could I use it. So we made crepes. 

Here is the recipe: 

- 1 cup all porpoise flour ( make sure when u buy the flour that it doesn't contain milk, gold medal contains milk so make sure not to use that one) 

- 1 1/2 cup of soy milk ( silk)

- 1/4 teaspoon coarse salt

- 1 tablespoon sugar

- 3 tablespoon vegetable oil

- 4 eggs 

Mix all the ingredients. So the crepes won't stick to the skillet I used Pam spray with butter flavor. Since we can't use any butter I used that one and is butter and diary free. It gives it a better flavor than just oil. 

Ready! Enjoy! 

Como mi David es tan alérgico siempre ando viendo que le hago en la casa por que cuando salimos se le antoja comer de todo y no puede comer nada. Esta mañana hicimos crepas. La maestra de David le hizo Nutella o bueno algo parecido a Nutella solo con chocolate sin lácteos y yo estaba pensando con que se lo podía dar. Así q hicimos crepas! 

Aquí les paso la receta. 

Ingredientes: 

- 1 taza de harina ( no usar harina marca Gold medal, ya que contiene trazas de leche, comprar una que no contenga trazas de leche) 

- 4 huevos

- 1/4 cucharadita sal

- 1 1/2 taza leche de soya

- 3 cucharadas de aceite vegetal

- 1 cucharada de azúcar 

Mezclar todos los ingredientes. Para que no se peguen las crepas al sartén yo uso un spray Pam con sabor a mantequilla. No contiene ningún lácteo o mantequilla así q sí lo pueden usar y le da un sabor rico en vez de usar aceite. 

Y listo. Espero que lo disfruten! Pueden hacer sus crepas saladas o dulces. 

Esta vez las hicimos dulces con mantequilla de maní y jalea y otras con el chocolate especial de David. 

Otro día yo las hice saladas. Se cocina el pollo y brocoli antes de hacer las crepas. El pollo se desmenuza y el brocoli se corta en pedazos pequeños. Se tienen listos los siguientes ingredientes: 

- pollo cocido desmenuzado

- brocoli cocido en pedazos pequeños

- quedo chedar rallado y mozarella

- salsa de su gusto ( sopa de champiñones la hice espesa para usar de gravy) 

Mientras se hacen las crepas después de  que se coció un lado de la crepa poner pollo brocoli y queso en el lado q ya se coció y esperar a qué derrita el queso y listo, doblar la crepa y listo para comer. 

Esta receta se puede hacer con queso de soya sí tienen. Sólo q sin la salsa. 

Halloween craft

Today was raining all day, and it was just not a nice day to go out! So we decided to stay at home. We played with cars, with molly, went to buy groceries for tomorrow,and then came home. David has been so exited about halloween so I decided to do something with him. 

I wanted to make something that could be used as a halloween decoration. I was going to make some silhouettes of a pumpkin, a ghost, and bats to glue in the windows in the living room, but then he wouldnt have been able to help me. So I remembered I had some transparent paper that we used when we were at school to show something on the overhead projector. I dont think anyone uses that anymore! Do you remember when we used to use the over head projector and had to print the powerpoint slides to show them in class, it was such a long time ago! 

Ok, so going back to the project this is what you need:

+ Orange tissue paper

+Scissors

+Glue

+Water

+1 paint brush

+Transparent paper

+Black marker

Its very simple, you cut in little squares the tissue paper. What I did is I cut the paper in stripes so David could cut the squares. It was very easy for him to do it. 

Then on the transparent paper a drew a circle, the shape of the pumpkin and let him fill the rest with glue. Oh and before I mixed the glue with a little bit of water. Then glue the squares.

We waited for it to dry and then I drew the face of the pumpkin and there you go! You have a pumpkin and a decoration for your windows!  

Finished my project!

I think this is the first time I actually finish a project. Usually I will start and never finish, but today I did!!! Yay for me! And it turned out great! See it for yourself. If you want to do it too here is the link where I made the labels. Usually I would have designed the labels myself, but since I wanted to finish today I used these that where easy to print.

Creo que es la primera vez que terminó un proyecto. Usualmente comienzo y nunca terminó, pero hoy sí termine!!! Qué alegre!! Y todo salió muy bien!! Lo podrán ver en las fotos de abajo. Usualemente yo diseñó las etiquetas pero esta vez por razones de tiempo y por qué quería terminar hoy rápido use estás que estaba muy fáciles de hacer e imprimir.
